Maintenance and Servicing

Hearing aids are customised instruments to suit your specific hearing loss.  Hearing aids have numerous components, simple steps can prolong the life of your instrument.  hearservice has developed a simple checklist to provide you with practical tips for maintaining and servicing your hearing aid/s:

Hearing Aid Checklist

When the hearing aid sounds weak:

1. Check for wax on the hearing aid/s.  Clean wax
2. Turn the volume up
3. Try a fresh battery
4. Check if tubing is blocked or damaged.                                
   

When the hearing aid goes on and off:

1. Check for wax or moisture in the tubing
2. Check for corrosion on the battery (this will appear as a white powder)
3. Work the switch back and forth; dust in the switch may interfere with the contacts
4. Try a fresh battery.                                          

When the hearing aid whistles:

1. Check that the mould is inserted correctly and fits well
2. Check the earmould tubing for cracks
3. Check for wax in the earmould
4. Ask your doctor to check your ear for wax.                                                                     

When the hearing aid is dead: 

1. Check that the battery is in correctly. Check that the + on the battery corresponds to the + on the aid
2. Check that the aid is on the right setting, not the ‘T’ 
3. Check that the earmould output hole is not blocked with wax
4. Try a fresh battery.

Servicing and Guarantee

The hearservice guarantee is simple...

• If you are not satisified with your hearing aid/s within the first six weeks from fitting date, hearservice will replace your hearing aid or return it for a refund.

and

• If your hearing aid/s is faulty within the first 12 months from fitting date, hearservice will repair your hearing aid free of charge*.

• If your hearing levels change within the first 12 months from fitting date, hearservice will adjust your hearing aid free of charge*.

• If you lose or damage your hearing aid/s within the first 12 months from fitting date, hearservice will give you 50% off the purchase price for a replacement*.
