2017 Hearing Health Expo – Abbottsford Convent, 11am Sunday 20 August
To celebrate 2017 Hearing Awareness Week, the Hearing Health Expo will not only include kiosks/information booths from various hearing health organisations, but will also profile a series of informative and inspirational speakers with positive hearing health messages.
Morning Session ‘Hearing High Fliers’ speaker line-up:
- AFL Women’s Footballer Shannon McFerran sharing her story of achieving success while living hearing loss
- Jess Moody, young community leader and founder of 2016 Melbourne Fringe award winning Deafferent Theatre, will share her amazing story
Afternoon’s ‘Healthy Hearing’ line-up includes:
- Frank McGuire, Mr Parliamentary Secretary for Medical Research will launch Hearing Awareness Week, along with a new video that highlights tinnitus risks faced by musicians and what to do to prevent developing the condition
- hearing health professional Carol Wilkinson presenting an overview on tinnitus and ways it can be managed
- Andrew Willis, from Word of Mouth, with talk about and demonstrate some new assistive technologies (other than hearing aids) that can help people manage hearing loss.
The Speaker Series and Hearing Health Expo will be held in the Community & Linen Rooms at the Abbottsford Convent from 10am to 3pm on Sunday 20th August.

Melbourne Polytechnic Free Hearing Checks: April 26th, April 28th & May 2nd 2017
Hearservice are coming out to Melbourne Polytechnic's Prahran, Fairfield and Epping campuses next week! We will be providing free hearing checks to students and offering sound protection and hearing advice. Sunday March 26th 2017: Darebin Community Kite Festival
Some of the team from hearservice worked alongside Vicdeaf at the 2017 Darebin Community Kite Festival on Sunday! It was a super fun, family-orientated and friendly event. We gave out information on how you can protect your hearing, information on NDIS, Auslan classes, and we showcased some of our awesome Assisted Listening Devices.
March 15th 2017: Priceline Free Hearing Check Day!
The Audiologsts from our Box Hill clinic will be down at the Boxhill Priceline providing free hearing checks, come check it out!
March - 2017 Avalon Airshow
Last week the team at hearservice spent the whole week at the spectacular International Avalon Airshow. We were lucky enough to secure an exhibition space where we promoted safe hearing and sound protection by giving out 100's off earplugs and chatting to the community. We also got to see some amazing flying displays!
2017: Living Well With Hearing Loss courses
We're excited to be running our Living Well With Hearing Loss courses again in 2017! We're kicking it off with our very first course to be run at our Oakleigh clinic in February. Please get in touch with us if you would like to enrol for February, as places are limited. There is more information about what to expect and topics that will be covered on our Hearing Loss Management page.
We aim to run courses all around Melbourne to make them accessable to everyone. We've set out dates and locations of our courses for the rest of the year, and you can find more information here. If you have a suggestion about where you would like us to run a course, please let us know!
