hearservice audiologisthearservice hearing loss clinics are helping Victorians hear better.   hearservice is a division of the Victorian Deaf Society (Vicdeaf) a registered not-for-profit organisation established in 1884.  As part of a not-for-profit, reputable and well established organisation, hearservice is dedicated to assisting you with your hearing loss needs.
Any profits made are used to fund much needed initiatives to assist deaf and hard of hearing Victorians.  Vicdeaf community initiatives include:   

  • The provision of Australian sign language (Auslan) interpreting services across Victoria, which are not funded by State or Federal Governments 
  • Support for the Deaf community clubs across the State and support for the establishment of new clubs
  • Research initiatives that further the awareness of the community to matters relevant to deaf and hard of hearing people including:
    • Evaluation of alerting systems such as flashing smoke alarms for the Deaf to enable them to evacuate public buildings
    • Suggestions for universally designed hearing aids and issues affecting the use of hearing aids
    • Production of a report by Access Economics “Listen hear!” (commissioned by Vicdeaf with the Cooperative Research Centre Hear) which examines the cost to the Australian economy of hearing loss 
  • Counselling services for the Deaf
  • Regional Case Management Services in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Wangaratta and Sale that provide advocacy, referral and support with issues that impact the lives deaf/hard of hearing people (Vicdeaf community initiatives, source:  Mr Graeme Kelly, CEO, Vicdeaf).

Vicdeaf is the primary source of reference, referral, advice and support for deaf adults in Victoria.  Vicdeaf has been the main provider of specialised welfare and communication services to deaf people in Victoria, serving over 16,000 people a year (ref. www.vicdeaf.com.au).
